Philadelphia. City on the Rebound

"...cities throughout the world are facing the same forces of change at the same moment in history ... this is the shared moment of change." Gary Hack

Philadelphia, the city where the US Constitution was signed that gave birth to a new nation, has a long and distinguished urban planning history. After World War II, the once prosperous and wealthy city entered into a long period of decline. Today, Philadelphia is a "city on the rebound" and the renewed interest and emphasis on the Center City have resulted in a lively and vibrant central core. The concentration of colleges and university, the health science cluster and the cultural/historical cluster form the basis of the re-invention of the city connected to the creative economy with a high quality of life.
